Road Trip Essentials and Better for You Snacking

We're off to Charleston tomorrow for spring break, and I am already packing and prepping for a few days in one of the most charming cities around. We're staying in an adorable studio apartment above a gallery in Charleston's art district and are planning to wine, dine, and shop our way around the city and islands. But first things first: road trip essentials and better-for-you snacking!

If a destination is fewer than six hours away, we usually drive. While it takes a little longer, it's definitely the better value and always allows room for a good book and some great podcasts. As always, I'm packing my favorite tote bag with a few road trip necessities, so I thought I'd share my favorites with you (including ways to snack simply and guilt free on the road!).

First of all, I always pack a small purse inside of my big bag so that as soon as I reach my destination, I can pull it out of my big tote and hit the town! A tiny wallet helps me keep my spending under control and also is easier to carry around, especially in such a sight-seeing destination like Charleston. Beauty wise I pack my favorite lip balm and travel hairspray for quick fixes, especially for combating humidity. Comfy headphones and fantastic reading materials are also a must. I have several issues of Southern Living to dig into, and I am looking forward to tackling them all!

Finally, I would be lying if I said that I didn't pack any car snacks, and tops on my list is Kozy Shack® Simply Well rice pudding. On road trips, it's easy to feel stuck when choosing better for you snack options because let's face it: there's not a lot of guiltless treats waiting for you at the gas station. I try to ward off any temptation by packing my own snacks in my travel bag. Kozy Shack® Simply Well rice pudding is my recent go-to snack. It only has 90 calories in a cup, is gluten free, and has no added sugar. While the hubs noshes on his selection of fruity candy, I'll snack simply with Kozy Shack®. Of course, this snack has to be refrigerated, so I try to eat it within a reasonable amount of time of leaving the house.

Be sure to follow along on Instagram during our trip. I can guarantee a lot of eye-candy for you! And stay tuned for more about my plans for Charleston, including an outfit that I can't wait to recycle while I'm there!

P.S. Be sure to try Kozy Shack® Simply Well tapioca pudding too! I tried Kozy Shack® tapioca pudding for the first time last week, and I fell in love!
