PPD Travels: Mobile, Alabama

If you've followed along on Instagram and Snapchat, you know that I spent almost every weekend in February out of town. It was a great month full of adventure, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to share one of my trips with you! 

This past weekend, I joined a few of my college girlfriends for a trip back to Mobile, Alabama for a friend's wedding. Even though my extended family lives in the area, we had not all been together in Mobile since graduating from college, and it was a fantastic excuse to visit this charming town. 

Mobile has always been one of my favorite places. It's the birthplace of Mardi Gras (not New Orleans), boasts beautiful homes and oak-lined streets, has a fantastic art scene, and happens to be building a pretty fabulous culinary reputation, too. I wanted to share a few places that should be on your must-visit list if you're ever in the area. 

Best Vintage & Antique Shopping

Antiques at the Loop: My mom introduced me to this antique shop, and I am addicted. I didn't get to stop on my last trip, but I always visit especially to see what's going on in the Coastal Charm booth. 

Joachim Street Antique Mall: I popped into Joachim Street Antique Mall this past weekend and even though all I did was a quick loop around the store, I could have spent hours in there! If you're looking for a quirky find, you'll definitely find it here. 

Best Place to Catch a Show

The Saenger Theater: The Saenger is a Mobile institution. I remember seeing everything from movies to speakers here growing up. The theater is beautiful and centrally located. Find upcoming shows here. 

Best Local Coffee Shop

Cream and Sugar: Hunter and I stumbled upon Cream and Sugar a few years ago, and I've since been back a few times. Located in historic Oakleigh District, this former home turned coffee shop has some of the best selection of pastries and other breakfast selections. My personal favorite is the ham, egg, and cheese croissant. YUM!  

Must Try Eateries 

Kitchen on George: Kitchen on George is another favorite in Oakleigh District. A learning kitchen, you'll find culinary students waiting on tables and even preparing the food. Kitchen on George has small plates and entrees, and I love it all! 

The Noble South: Not only is this restaurant full of gorgeous natural light, it also is home to the best French 75 of my life...seriously...and I've had a few French 75s before. I love the deviled eggs here, too, and you won't want to miss the oysters if they're in season when you visit. Oh and soft shell crab BLT. Basically, just add it to your list and go!
