How to Create a Themed Gift

One of my love languages is definitely gifts. I've always loved picking up little things here and there for people that I love, and I get just as much joy giving a gift as I do receiving one. Oh, and side note, did you know this week is Random Acts of Kindness Week? How appropros for today's post!

One of my BFFs moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago, and I wanted to take her a little something for her big move. I have a thing with giving themed presents, so this time, I decided to go with "Breakfast for the morning after moving." No one wants to have to unpack everything as soon as you move in, so I figured a little basket of breakfast necessities would be a great housewarming gift. Of course Home Goods had me covered with everything I needed!

Here's how to create the perfect themed gift:

1. Choose a theme that fits the occasion. For housewarming, I like to revolve around food. For hostess, I like a good cocktail theme. You get the idea.

2. Be sure to carry your theme throughout everything. While it's tempting to want to add that super cute picture frame to your dinner basket, it just doesn't fit.

3. Stick to the same or complimentary color palette. I chose shades of blue for this particular basket, and it worked out great!

4. Don't stress yourself out. Head to your favorite big box discount store (like Home Goods) and go to town. You'll be able to find everything you need in one place, and it won't break the bank. The entire basket of goodies including a Ralph Lauren blanket, a cute coffee mug, a Kitchen Aid spatula, gluten free pancake mix, and card came in under $40 (including the basket!).

There ya have it! Are you a themed gifter, too? I'm kind of OCD about it. Tell me I'm not alone!
