Probably Polka Dots

I am beyond thrilled to share a new company with you that I have come to love over the past few weeks, Social Dress Shop. When Sarah first reached out to me to tell me about her new venture, I knew that I was about to have a great experience. I immediately started perusing her site and found not one but three or four dresses that I thought I had to have. This online store is filled to the brim with beautiful party dresses fit for any occasion you can dream-up. You can shop by need, by color, or by occasion which makes it easy to navigate and a perfect shopping experience. And don't you love her slogan, "Party Pretty"? Don't mind if I do.

I purchased this dress in black and am so glad I snagged it before it sold out. Not to worry, the same dress in a color-blocked fuchsia is just as stunning. And there are several other LBDs to be had. My package arrived beautifully wrapped in gold polka dots (be still my heart!) and included a reusable shopping bag. Oh, and my favorite part of the whole shopping experience? FREE priority shipping. That means, you can shop last minute and still get a fantastic dress in the mail in time for an event. What's not to love about that?

When I read over Sarah's answers to my questions for her, I knew we could be friends. I mean, a girl who orders champagne as her cocktail of choice? Destined to be besties. I knew immediately I had to include more of her answers other than the regular ones I feature. Get to know Sarah a little better below.

Why did you decide to start Social Dress Shop?

Social Dress Shop is my absolute dream come true, and it has always been in the back of my mind in one form or another! Honestly, I realized that I was never going to find that "perfect" career if I did not create it for myself. I receievd my business license in June, and I haven't looked back. Everyday is a new day full of experiences, meetings, collaborative efforts and of course amazing dresses...and I have never been so excited to wake up in the morning. No matter where I go from here, I know that I gave my dream every bit that I could, and really there is nothing more satisfying than that. Well, aside from getting a tweet or an instagram image of a beautiful and happy customer wearing their new dress! Love that!

What is your vision for your site? Do you ever want a brick and mortar shop? Do you plan to add accessories?

My vision for Social Dress Shop is to continue to explore the best cocktail and weekend dresses for my customers. I am constantly researching new designers, and I am really making a push toward American made merchandise. I am extremely proud of all of the designers that Social Dress Shop stocks right now, and I am bursting at the seams and cannot wait for everyone to see the spring collections! I would love to eventually carry an amazing line of jewelry and headpieces made by special artists and other small businesses. Of course, I would love for Social Dress Shop to continue to grow and hire full time employees, but my goal is to continue to offer boutique customer service and specialized attention to every single detail! However, I really love the industry and direction that SDS is going right now, and plan to stick with the party dress and wedding guest dress market. I think it is very important to do what you do extremely well, and SDS does dresses! Eventually, a brick and mortar is in the plan (maybe next year), and the idea I have for it are totally awesome and unique, so I guess just stay tuned!

Who is your fashion icon?
Diane Kruger, Jenny Lewis & Sofia Coppola...they all do that 'feminine cool' style that I admire so much. It's that perfect balance of finding your personal style as an extension of your identity.
