Last week, I channeled my inner-adult and took a sewing class at Whipstitch Fabrics on the West Side. Needless to say I was more than apprehensive before taking the class because I haven't had any sewing experience since middle school, and my attitude didn't exactly shift after classes 1 & 2. However, as the week progressed, I began to see the fun in sewing. In fact, let me take you on my sewing journey:
Day 1: Napkin
Day 2: Reversable Tote-Bag
Day 3: Picnic Placemat
Which I promptly turned into a really cute sewing apron this weekend:
Unfortunately, the picture quality isn't that good, but you get the idea ;)
Day 4: Pillow w/zipper AND binding (this is a really big deal if you didn't know...)
Today, I attempted to put my skills to use. I found a TON of sewing tutorials and was really interested in the ones that were both simple and useful. I decided to try my hand at laminated cotton which can be used for water-resistant things. A lot of blogs have tutorials for things like baby bibs and reusable sandwich bags (which are also in my future), but I wanted immediate gratification. So, I created a Beach Bag Pouch:
It will be a great addition to my beach bag to store hard to find things that should remain out of sand and water's way:
I love the blog, my friend! So glad to see that your sewing adventure took a turn for the better. Your creations are very you, and oh-so-adorable. I will be enlisting your services (I'm thinking pillows...)
ReplyDeleteYAY! So glad you started blogging! By the way wish I had one of these beach proof bags to take. See yall at the beach
